COL (Ret.) Martin J. Bowling, President

COL (Ret.) Martin J. Bowling is Co-Founder and President of the Longest Climb Foundation. With nearly three decades of experience as a U.S. Army Infantry officer including commands and deployments across Europe, Africa and the Middle East with both the 82nd Airborne and the 101st Airborne Divisions, Jeremy brings unmatched expertise leading complex teams and large organizations in multi-national settings. Today, he’s focused on unlocking potential and driving results for organizations—from scrappy startups to Fortune 500 companies. As a former faculty member at multiple universities, he's mentored leaders and designed innovative leadership development courses blending proven methods and fostering environments where everyone can succeed. Fueled by his passion for service and team building, The Longest Climb Foundation is well positioned to thrive as it continues to serve Veterans wherever they are today.

John D. Hollis, Secretary

 John D. Hollis is a Co-Founder and the Secretary of the Longest Climb Foundation and lists 17 years of daily newspaper experience, including nearly 10 at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and a lengthy stint as a correspondent for Time Magazine. He is the author of “Sgt. Rodney M. Davis: The Making of a Hero,” the 2018 book that chronicles the inspirational life and death of the U.S. Marine who became Macon, Georgia’s lone Medal of Honor recipient following his death in Vietnam in 1967. In 2013, Hollis teamed with former professional wrestler Lex Luger to pen “Wrestling with the Devil: The True Story of a World Champion Wrestler – His Reign, Ruin and Redemption.” Over his career, the University of Virginia alum has covered the Super Bowl, the Olympics, five college basketball Final Fours, the College World Series, the NBA, the NFL, and major college football and basketball within both the ACC and SEC. Currently serving as the Media Relations Manager at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., Hollis is also a member of the Media Relations Staff at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and served on the Media Relations Staff for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in January 2025.

Greg Boylan, PhD-COL (Ret.), Treasurer

Greg is the Chief Operating Officer at Synthology – an organizational transformation consultancy focused on helping leaders and organizations achieve the best versions of themselves. He retired from the Army as a Colonel in 2023 after over 34 years in uniform. His last role was Director of Strategic Resource Planning and Integration at West Point, where he oversaw the vision, planning, resourcing, and implementation of the Academy’s long-term modernization plan. His Infantry assignments included the 82nd Airborne Division, 25th Infantry Division, and 2nd Infantry Division. He later transitioned to Operations Research/Systems Analysis, serving nearly two years in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he led innovative staff alignment and campaign assessment strategies for combat effectiveness and efficiency. He holds a BS from West Point, a MS in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech, a MA in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a PhD in industrial engineering from Clemson University.

 

As a Veteran from a family of Veterans spanning every war since WWI, Greg is passionate about serving Veterans. He is a devoted husband and a proud dad to three incredible kids (one Army, one Navy, and another civil servant).

HON Randy Schriver, Principal Advisor

Randy Schriver is a Board member and Principal Advisor at the Longest Climb Foundation and a former Assistant Secretary of Defense. The current Chairman of the Board at The Institute for Indo-Pacific Security, he served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs from 8 January 2018 to 31 December 2019. Prior to that, he was a founding partner of Armitage International LLC, a consulting firm that specializes in international business development and strategies, and a later founder of the Project 2049 Institute, where he served as President and CEO. Schriver previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs from 2001 to 2003, serving as Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Advisor to the Deputy Secretary of State. From 1994 to 1998, he worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, including as the senior official responsible for the day-to-day management of U.S. bilateral relations with the People’s Liberation Army and the bilateral security and military relationships with Taiwan. Following an active-duty stint as an intelligence officer with the U.S. Navy, Schriver served in the Navy Reserves for nine years, including as Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and an attaché at U.S. Embassy Beijing and U.S. Embassy Ulaanbaatar.

Davis Hollis, Intern 

Davis Hollis is an intern with The Longest Climb Foundation and a college junior attending University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. An Eagle Scout who is majoring in History and Politics, Davis is currently an exchange student at The Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. He traveled to Vietnam with The LCF in September 2024, and spoke on behalf of the entire Davis Family during the emotional ceremony held in the Que Son Valley to remember and honor his late great uncle, Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Rodney M. Davis (USMC), on the 57th anniversary of his death.
